Welcome to Paradise
Our award-winning resort is a historic landmark in the Maldives – and the perfect setting for relaxation, excitement and adventure.
Our History
THE ROOTS OF KURUMBA
When Kurumba opened in 1972, the Maldives was largely unknown to the world. At the time, our remote tropical archipelago was inhabited largely by families and local fisher folk. Few could have anticipated the progress and prosperity which would follow.
The Maldives in Full Colour
Brilliant white sand, infinite shades of blue on all sides – and a perfect cluster of verdant green growing larger and drawing nearer as your boat whizzes over the waves.
With each passing moment, life in the Maldives only becomes more vibrant. Hospitality and genuine warmth fill the air. Colourful celebrations dance down the beach. The island sunset cracks the sky with a thousand picturesque shades. The flourishing marine life waiting beneath the surface shimmers brighter still.
Kurumba is a natural wonder full of tropical splendour and legendary charm – and a cosmopolitan island where entertainment and adventure feel boundless.

A vibrant and enchanting new world to explore
The Maldives is a permanent tropical paradise, averaging 29/32C year round. Dive into our refreshing, turquoise waters to cool off.
Rainy season runs from mid-May until November, bringing both gentle showers and good thunderstorms. Not to worry, umbrellas are at the ready in each room.
At all turns, we do our utmost to honour and protect the Maldives. This enduring focus has resulted in multiple sustainability programs at Kurumba.
Kurect – our comprehensive recycling centre – is one of the most effective of any resort in the Maldives. We also reuse glass for cementing, and shred plastics, cardboard and metals for recycling. Adding a mulcher further allowed us to reuse green waste from the gardens. With the rise of each beautiful new day on Thilafushi, we look for new ways to further reduce our ecological footprint.
